Touring the amazing amenities at Chaz.Yorkville in Toronto!

We remember the first time we visited the Chaz.Yorkville site in Toronto by 45 Charles Ltd. and Edenshaw Homes. It was the summer of 2013 and it was so hot that the construction crew had the day off. At that point, the mezzanine level was under construction and we had the opportunity to explore the parking garage, which was basically like stepping into an oven on the 45 degrees celsius day. We have to say, our most recent visit was much more pleasant since the amenities are completed and we got to tour them all!
For the first stop on the amenities tour, we went straight up to the Chaz Club on the 36th floor. The Chaz Club is a unique amenity because of its cantilevered, two-storey design, and the views are simply incredible. The Chaz Club faces south so you have panoramic views of the quickly growing downtown skyline. The interior design of the Chaz Club features white and concrete finishes, and there is a main lounge space plus a couple dining areas. There is also a serving/prep area for when you’re hosting fancy shindigs.
The Chaz Club is one of those spaces that we’ve seen transform gradually over the last couple years. It was a milestone when PCL, the construction team, first hit the 36th floor because the cantilevered design entailed a giant piece of concrete jutting out from the building. It was a complex build and looked very impressive from the ground. Then when it was finally safe to go up there, we had the opportunity to snap some photos of the city from the balcony. When Chaz topped off, we celebrated with the developers and Baker Real Estate up in the Chaz Club while it was still under construction.
After admiring the finished Chaz Club, we headed back down to the second and main floors where the rest of the amenities are. What we’ve never seen before is a gaming room. We knew that Chaz was going to have one because we remember when they released the rendering, but we’ve never actually stood in one before, and in all seriousness, we don’t understand why more condos don’t have this. The gaming room features four curved 4K TVs and they’re hooked up to gaming stations, including a few special racing simulators. There is another large 4K TV and a couple bean bag chairs for people who just feel like hanging out and watching a movie. Millennials are a gaming generation, so it was super smart of 45 Charles and Edenshaw to include this amenity.
We checked out the theatre room next, which also has a 4K TV, only it’s the biggest 4K TV we’ve ever seen. Typically in theatre rooms, there’s either a large TV or a projector, but Chaz really stepped it up with this high quality screen. Also, the seats have cup holders and are shaped just like movie theatre seats, so you really feel like you’re at the movies.
There is another amenity at Chaz that we’ve never experienced before and that’s the relaxation room. When you enter, there are two white, padded lounge chairs in front of a wallpapered feature wall and the lighting is dim. We tried out the chairs and they were as comfy as promised. The more interesting part of the relaxation room was the water massage bed. Don’t know what that is? We didn’t know what it was either until we tried it out. Imagine the seat of a hot tub was flattened out so you could lie on it and there was a thin membrane-like surface separating you from the water. That’s basically what it was and you can manage the power of the jets with a remote control. Would we use it every day? Maybe not, but it’s definitely a great option to have for after those long days at the office when you just need to tune out for a bit and get a full body massage.
The fitness centre was the next stop, and it has an abundance of equipment, especially stationary bikes. There is also a billiards room with a flatscreen TV, and a dining/prep kitchen area on the main floor where you can host a semi-private get together. The lobby is quite beautiful; it’s open and bright and would be great to host a high-profile event. For young professionals or students, there is a spacious boardroom area with access to a balcony. And for pet owners, there is a pet grooming/washing area.
