In 2007, Reid's Heritage Homes was honoured with the Green Builder of the Year Award by the Ontario Home Builders' Association. This provincial recognition was the product of the company's diligent pursuit of environmentally friendly building practices and materials.

Last year, they released Canada's First LEED® Platinum home and they have now introduced Preston Meadows, one of the country's first LEED® ND certified communities.
Reid's Heritage Homes is proud to be one of the few builders selected to be a part of the LEED® ND pilot program. LEED® ND stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - for Neighborhood Development. It is a rating system that integrates the principles of smart growth, new urbanism, and green building into the first national standard for neighborhood design.
In short, LEED® ND recognizes developments that successfully protect and enhance the overall health, natural environment, and quality of life of today's communities. At Preston Meadows extensive consideration has been given to site selection, community planning, and product offering.
The townhomes, for example, are ENERGY STAR® qualified including features such as high efficiency heating and cooling equipment, improved levels of insulation and exceptional air sealing details that result in a highly durable building envelope. Energy performance will be up to 30% better than a home built to current Ontario Building Code specifications.
Other specialized efficiency products included in the townhomes are a high performance duct system, a drain water heat recovery system and an in-home energy monitoring device that helps owners manage their daily electrical consumption.
Furthermore, the townhomes come equipped with high efficiency plumbing fixtures such as dual flush toilets and low flow faucets and shower heads to help preserve one of our most valuable resources - water. A Heat Recovery Ventilator and ENERGY STAR® rated exhaust fan all contribute to improving indoor air quality and promoting a healthier living environment.
