We were fortunate enough to be invited to an advanced screening of HORIZON before today’s official launch of the 360° Cinematic Dome Tour. Ontario150, the City of Toronto, The Daniels Corporation, and Toronto Community Housing (TCH) partnered up to support SESQUI’s initiative.

“We’re thrilled to launch our cinematic dome tour in Toronto’s Regent Park. We believe watching HORIZON in the dome is a Canadian storytelling and technology breakthrough,” says Joanne Loton, SESQUI Executive Producer. “SESQUI is about connecting Canadians, celebrating our beautiful country and honouring the diversity that makes this country great. Regent Park is one of Ontario’s most vibrant and diverse communities and the perfect place to kick-off our tour.”

Regent Park is the first of seven stops across Ontario. The free showings will take place in Toronto from June 21 to 25, then the tour will continue across the province until August 2017. Daniels and TCH provided a plot of land for the large dome to get set up!

“The Daniels Corporation is happy to partner with Toronto Community Housing and SESQUI to bring the cinematic dome tour to life in the heart of Regent Park,” says Martin Blake, Vice President of The Daniels Corporation. “We are excited to welcome visitors from across the city into Regent Park to celebrate Canada and experience the cultural diversity and vibrant creativity that permeates this community.”

The dome provides a truly unique viewing experience. HORIZON is a 22-minute film shot in 360° in 9K resolution, which we didn’t even know existed until we attended the screening. The film has footage of all 13 provinces and territories in Canada, and is the perfect way to reflect on our country’s diverse population and landscape.

“Toronto Community Housing is very proud that Regent Park was chosen to host the launch of SESQUI and in many ways this community embodies so much that is Canada in 2017,” says Kevin Marshman, Interim President and CEO of TCH. “Regent Park is home to Canadians from around the globe, living together as one diverse, vibrant community and a great place to celebrate this stunning cinematic journey of Canada.”

The showings run from 12 pm to 8 pm until Friday, June 23, and on the weekend the showings run from 10 am to 8 pm. Admission is free and the 360° Cinematic Dome is located at 646 Dundas Street East. You can’t miss it.

“Ontario’s 150th anniversary is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the incredible province we live in. A picture is worth a thousand words, and the SESQUI film HORIZON is a visual spectacle of special and unique moments across the country,” says Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “With SESQUI’s dome in Toronto, families throughout the area will experience the magic of Ontario and Canada with this breathtaking film.”
