Coming Soon: River City 2

With River City under construction, everyone is getting excited about phase 2 being in preconstruction! Phase 2 is scheduled to begin this fall, it will consist of the four glass mini-towers that the design pictures present so elegantly.

River City Phase 2 Toronto Urban Capital

Urban Capital Development Group, which is responsible for over 3,000 residential units in Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, is one of the developers for River City.  They are working with Waterfront Toronto, an agency of the federal, provincial, and municipal governments.  They have many ideas and plans about how to transform Toronto’s waterfront over the next 20 years, and River City is one of them.

The five-building community will contain 900 loft-style condominiums and an assortment of family-friendly townhomes.  The waterfront community was designed by Montreal-based Saucier + Perrotte Architects, in conjunction with Toronto-based ZAS Architects.  The overall design of the exterior and interior of River City is inspired by the site on which it is being constructed.  Toronto’s waterfront, spanning from King Street West to the new Don River Park, and from Don River to River Street, was first inhabited roughly 150 years ago and became a highly industrial area.  Since then, the factories and warehouses have been abandoned and lush greenery has begun to take over.  The environment is a strong combination of natural and synthetic elements, and River City is designed to reflect that partnership.

The interior will consist of exposed concrete and industrial-styled finishings.  These harsh details will be softened by warm hardwood floors and other wood finishings throughout.  The exterior will be clad in dark panels and transparent glass.  The dark panels blend in with certain forms of industrial infrastructure, and the transparent glass will allow the buildings to integrate almost seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.  The buildings comprising River City will surely grace this heritage neighbourhood with the respect that it deserves.

River City is going to be immensely popular.  Phase 1 is currently selling units starting at $266,400, and Phase 2 is now accepting registrations.  The new waterfront neighbourhood is going to change Toronto, and you can be a part of it.
