Construction Update: River City Condos

By Lucas on Apr 10, 2013

The revitalization of our Waterfront may just be the most important step that the City of Toronto has to take. The gateway to a world class city is often said to come from the waterfront. Some developers have taken the lead on improving our waterfront, adding in a mix of residential units and retail.

River City Condos by Urban Capital

One development that we have kept a keen eye on over the past few years is River City Condos - a project that is included in Waterfront Toronto’s Waterfront improvement plan. Developed by Urban Capital, River City is an award-winning project that is starting to really take shape over in the West Don Lands area. We decided to head on down to River City to take a peek at the construction progress.

River City Condos coming together

As you can see in the photos, the first phase of River City is really starting to take shape. The Saucier + Perrotte Architects designed building features an innovative combination of dark exterior paneling, with glass and raw materials, such as concrete and brick. The exterior is strongly inspired by the area's industrial past.

The vision behind River City Condos

The first two buildings at River City will be comprised of loft style condo suites and townhomes, with 345 units in total. The units have been designed to be both spacious and modern, while including such features as hardwood flooring, nine foot ceilings, large windows, and terraces.

Once complete, the five-building project will bring a total of 900 units to the area, while also bringing some much needed space for retail, restaurants, and cafes.
