On The Danforth Arriving Soon in Toronto!

By Lucas on Feb 26, 2015

At the end of last year and the beginning of this one, we predicted that 2015 would be the year of boutique condos, and we haven’t been proven wrong yet, especially since Diam Developments is now collecting registrations for On The Danforth Condo in Toronto!

On The Danforth, designed by Onespace Unlimited, will rise 10 storeys and feature 135 units, ranging up to just more than 1,000 square feet. The condo will be ideal for singles, couples, and even small families. With prices starting in the mid $200,000s, On The Danforth is a great option for any young couples out there looking to make that leap into cohabiting. The floor plan designs focus on utilizing every square foot with strategic layouts, 9’ ceilings, and a lot of private outdoor space (balconies and terraces).

“The contemporary asymmetrical design shall be created from traditional materials, which again, speaks to On The Danforth’s surroundings,” says Rod Rowbotham, President at Onespace Unlimited. “The building rises gives to a sense of movement, which is appropriate, considering On The Danforth is on the subway line. Just as transit moves people, in this case, the motion in the façade nods to transit inspiring the building’s movement.”

The building amenities at On The Danforth will cater to the common wants of today’s condo buyer, featuring a fitness facility, a party room, private dining room, and two outdoor terraces. There is also a pet spa and bike storage! When it comes to the amenities, Diam Developments has found a good balance. Many condo buyers are wary of condos with too many amenities because they don’t want to pay the high maintenance costs. Diam has identified which amenities have low maintenance fees and are highly desired by purchasers. You will have areas to exercise, entertain, catch some rays, store your bike, and wash your pet - what more do you need!

“The building’s amenity spaces shall integrate the outdoors with the indoors, which is something today’s condominium owners want,” Rowbotham explains. “In this case, the top of the building faces south and contains a beautiful amenity space with outdoor terraces facing south and a balcony facing east. I call this providing democracy to view, because even suite owners who live on the north side of the building on a lower floor can come up to this area and look out over the city. Residents can also take their guests from the private dining room out onto a furnished terrace deck for additional entertaining opportunities.”

On The Danforth offers an eclectic selection of neighbourhood amenities

Located at 2359 Danforth Avenue in Toronto, On The Danforth will rise on the border between two distinct neighbourhoods; the Upper Beaches and Old East York. The Upper Beaches neighbourhood is now primarily residential, featuring many low-rise homes. Architecture in the area dates back to the early 1900s, so there is an historic vibe throughout the streetscape. Old East York also offers an historic atmosphere as much of the area was developed before World War II. There is slightly more green space in Old East York than in the Upper Beaches. Overall, the two areas mesh nicely, and On The Danforth will stand where the two meet.

The first thing you have probably already noticed about the location is that it is right on the Bloor-Danforth subway line. The condo will be located right between Main Station and Woodbine Station, so whether you’re travelling east or west, the subway is only a few steps away. If your destination happens to stretch further than the limits of Toronto’s subway lines, the Danforth GO Station is also within walking distance.

Typically, when we think of highly walkable areas, we think of the downtown core, but On The Danforth’s address actually has a 96 Walk Score, and it’s all thanks to the beloved Danforth strip. If you’re in search of a restaurant, fashion boutiques, a cafe, or a grocery store, all you have to do is step outside for a short stroll. The two closest grocery options are Sobeys and Vincenzo Supermarket. Travelling east or west, you’ll find even more independent markets.

For the couples purchasing a slightly larger unit in anticipation of starting a family, you’ll be happy to know that there is a great selection of schools in the neighbourhood. The closest schools to On The Danforth are Kimberley Junior Public School, William J Mccordic School, and Gledhill Public School.
