Deerhurst Model: An Inviting Home-Away-from-Home

According to the whirlwind reception that Skyline has received for whole-ownership residences at Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka, the concept of living year round at this incredible community is irresistible.

Deerhurst Muskoka Skyline Developments

Deerhurst Summit Lodges sold out in hours, and there is overwhelming interest in Skyline’s detached Golf Cottages. With prices beginning from only $179,900, you can own one of the 18 Golf Cottage lots available in this final release, or for just $399,900, you can own an elegant cottage situated on the gorgeous Highlands Golf Course, and enjoy a world of entertainment and recreation at your doorstep.

Making this opportunity even more appealing, Deerhurst Golf Cottage owners have the option of placing their home into a professionally managed rental program for all or part of the year. What a great way for them to recoup some of their costs AND have access to Deerhurst’s Concierge services.

To envision how inviting life here can be, Skyline enlisted the Design Agency to appoint a spectacular model Cottage to tour. The big wraparound porch on the must-see new model offers plenty of space for Muskoka chairs – the perfect spot to enjoy lemonade while being serenaded by crickets on a warm summer night. Walk into the model and you enter a world of casual elegance that takes the concept of “cottage” to a new level. According to Matt Davis of the Design Agency, “The décor is more eclectic than specific, in order to appeal to the wide variety of people interested in embracing the Muskoka lifestyle. The spaces are flexible, and the surroundings are both luxurious and comfortable for today’s sophisticated buyers.”

Hints of The Hamptons offer a grand feel to the model, which features wide-plank engineered hardwood flooring and other materials inspired by its Muskoka context. “Years ago, people furnished their cottages with hand-me-down items, so we played on that concept a bit,” Davis says. “We mixed rustic, contemporary and traditional styles with a natural earthy palette. This home has such good bones that any style range works.”

In the large great room, the walls are slightly off white. “This creates different tones depending on the natural light coming in from the large windows. The light quality refracts and changes the mood of the room, and the massive vaulted ceiling adds to the striking effect.” A study in warm textures, the great room features a dining area with a rustic table and traditional chairs. “This set-up is conducive to social gatherings. This is where life happens, where people get together and have fun.”

The area is also open to the kitchen. “Here we used transitional millwork on the Shaker-inspired cabinet doors, and the colour palette is light, suggesting French Country,” Davis says. “The idea is that the kitchen doesn’t take itself too seriously. Anyone can feel comfortable cooking in here, yet it’s beautiful. Most parties end up in the kitchen, so you want the space to be attractive. With this neutral backdrop, owners could change the motif throughout the year by bringing in colourful seasonal accessories.”

At the top of the stairs, the open loft space can serve a multitude of purposes such as a sleeping area, media room or games/TV retreat. As for the bedroom, Davis points out its ethereal palette, which is soft and comforting. “You want to lie on the bed and feel the cool evening breeze waft over you from the open windows.” Equally as stunning, the spa-like ensuite features touches of black for a shot of glamour.

Each Golf Cottage will feature an exterior gas line, barbecue, 9’ plus main-floor ceiling heights, and much higher in the great rooms (as per plan); quality kitchen appliances; imported ceramics; smooth ceilings in the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms; oak handrails and spindles; and a direct-vent natural gas fireplace.

Deerhurst Golf Cottages offer views of the Highlands Golf Course – one of the two courses at Deerhurst Resort, and one of Canada’s finest. Golf cottage owners will be nestled into a tranquil spot away from the main resort area, yet they have the benefit of being only a walk or shuttle-bus ride from the lake and this resort’s remarkable recreational and social opportunities.

Among the exciting perks that go along with buying a Golf Cottage lot or home is a free golf cart. Plus, receive a 40 per cent discount at Deerhurst Resort from the time you purchase until you are ready to close. And there’s more! Those who purchase at Deerhurst Golf Cottages will also receive a membership buy-in in the SkyLife Club, valued at $25,000. This membership offers unprecedented access to the amenities at Skyline’s northern and urban properties.
