Dig-to-Done: We Have Concrete at B.streets!

By Lucas on Jun 03, 2013

This week, the Toronto Star’s NewInHomes.com team headed up to Mirvish Village for the third installment of the Dig-to-Done series we are doing on B.streets Condos by Lindvest Properties.

The last time we were at Bathurst and Bloor, the crane was up – a great milestone for a construction site. This month’s milestone isn’t as visually stimulating, but it’s incredibly important from a structural standpoint.

Once again, we met with project manager Chris Hawkins, who was gracious enough to take some time out of his busy schedule to walk us through the progress they’ve made at B.streets.

“We started our concrete foundations on October 22, with completion of the concrete work to be completed in 40 weeks. We should be completing the entire ground floor of the building, all 300 feet, within 20 weeks,” Hawkins explained.

“What will happen is that everything will be built from the north to the south, so in that period of 20 weeks the entire ground floor will be completed, and we will probably be up to the second floor on the north end.”

Things are looking good, but not everything has gone smoothly at the site because of the transition into winter.

Hawkins explained, “November has been pretty good. The last week of October we got killed from the weather. We got a half day of work in over a five-day period. It was just too wet to do any work. We will have to work on making that up.”

What can you expect from next month’s construction update , you ask?

“First things first; we cross our fingers for winter! We are going to start forming the first pieces of the suspended slab, which weather permitting, will be in December. That will be our next big milestone.”

So, cross your fingers for a mild winter for Lindvest Properties, and stay tuned to the HomesAndCondosBlog for our next trip to B.streets Condos!
