Dig-to-Done: B.streets is Taking Shape!

By Lucas on Jun 03, 2013

It seems like only yesterday that we first stepped foot on the site of Lindvest’s B.streets Condos. What was once just a large, empty hole, has slowly transformed into a very exciting construction site. We have had the pleasure of meeting with Senior Project Manager, Chris Hawkins, once a month to check out progress at the site, and this is our latest installment!

B.streets Condos construction update

The boutique condo is really taking shape, and it’s starting to turn some heads. As you can see from our photos, the building is now up to its third floor.

The last time we headed up to B.streets, the crew was only at grade, so they have come a long way over the past month.

Chris Hawkins talks B.streets Condos’ progress

“We continue to pour concrete, now on level three. Things will pick up now that we are starting to do our flying forms. In the lower level, everything was cut up, which made it harder to move forward. It’s much quicker now that we are above grade,”Hawkins says.

“This building is 285 feet long, twice the size of a typical condo in Toronto; therefore it takes twice as long as it normally would to build a floor. We are running a good two weeks per floor. As we get higher, our floors get smaller because the building starts tiering in.”

Weather issues at B.Streets Condos

The project has had its issues; both snow and rain have set the team back.

“Last week, we lost three days to rain. Since the start of the project we have lost upwards of 21 days. We are three weeks behind schedule. The good news is that the 30-day forecast shows some better weather ahead,” Hawkins says.

With the weather heating up, the team at Lindvest will surely make up their lost time, as long as mother nature doesn’t throw them a curve ball.

Once again, we thank our friends over at B.Streets Condos for the tour. We look forward to visiting again in a month to see how far they have come!
