Elvis has left the building — and it’s for sale!

Elvis has left the building! Actually, he left a long time ago, but now that building is for sale.  That building, is Trousdale Estates, Elvis Presley’s former family home in Beverly Hills, where he lived with his wife, Priscilla, and his daughter, Lisa Marie.

The property was previously listed as a rental for $25,000 a month, but now it is listed for sale with a $12,995,000 asking price.

Elvis purchased 1174 N Hillcrest Rd. for $200,000 in 1967.  He lived there for five years with his family, until he and Priscilla separated.  Priscilla and Lisa Marie left, and Elvis stayed at Trousdale Estates.  While Elvis lived in Trousdale Estates, he had a few other famous neighbours, such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Curtis, and Ray Charles — no big deal. What a crazy street to live on.  Block parties would have been outrageous ... and full of really good-looking people.

Today, the neighbourhood still has some famous faces hanging around, like Vera Wang, David Spade, and Jennifer Aniston.  David Spade ain’t no Sinatra, but he must have good taste in homes.

Trousdale Estates rests on a 1.18-acre lot, is comprised of four bedrooms, and spans 5,367 square feet.  It has just been remodeled and features a new kitchen, a resurfaced pool and spa, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Of course, it has all the typical fancy features that a celebrity home has, like a bunch of fireplaces, a “large motorcourt” (not even really sure what that is), an attached guest house, a media room, and panoramic views of the ocean and city.

One of the coolest parts of the house is actually on the outside.  There is a set of gates at the back of the home that have been maintained for a very special reason — there are a bunch of messages scribbled across the gates to Elvis from his admiring fans.  Rumour has it that Elvis would occasionally step out from behind the legendary gates to chat with his visitors.

So, what do you think? Can a home go from $200,000 to $12,995,000 in 45 years?  It can if Elvis lived there.

This is probably the perfect home for an eccentric millionaire Elvis fanatic.  There’s got to be one out there.
