One of Scarborough’s most exciting condo developments is officially under construction now that City Core Developments and Fortress Real Developments have cut the ribbon and broke ground with a geothermal drill at Harmony Village Sheppard.

Purchasers, members of the community, local councillors, and even members of parliament came out for the big day. “Harmony Village Sheppard fulfills our vision for a master-planned, amenity-rich, sustainable, and progressively-minded community,” says Jack Pong, President and CEO of City Core. “I am honoured to share this event with our supporters from the city, the community and our purchasers. From the fantastic location and our commitment to accessible design and wellness, this community will be unlike any other Scarborough has seen.”

After the speeches and ceremony, everyone crowded into the presentation centre for a VIP sales event where new homebuyers were offered limited-time promotions. We imagine the people who stepped into the Harmony Village Sheppard presentation centre for the first time were quite surprised by all that the condo community has to offer. Even when we first heard about the condo’s features and amenities, we were super intrigued.

First of all, City Core and Fortress are seeking LEED Platinum Certification with innovative features such as charging stations for electric vehicles, geothermal technology, a combined heat power system for electrical generation, and energy efficient appliances. The geothermal technology harnesses heat from the earth to generate power.

The interior spaces have been designed with the assistance of a Feng Shui expert, and there are many amenities focused on the health and wellness of your body and mind. There are zen gardens with water features, a tea room/cappuccino bar, a yoga/tai chi/dance studio, and a fitness centre. That’s only a handful of Harmony Village’s amenities; there is a total of 35,00 square feet of indoor amenity space!

When it comes to the the design of the units, City Core embraced the philosophy of Universal Design, making their units functional for everyone regardless of age and/or physical ability. For example, the light switches are lower for easy reaching and all the showers and tubs have easy access. Other high quality features and finishes include quartz countertops, built-in appliances, a stainless steel refrigerator, and in-floor heating on all window walls. And, depending on the unit, there are balconies and terraces, as well as large kitchen pantries.

Designed by Page + Steele/IBI Group Architects, Harmony Village Sheppard will rise 30 storeys and feature a total of 291 units, ranging from 388 to 1,800 square feet. The floor plans are available in a wide selection from studios to three-bedrooms, with many of the one-bedroom and two-bedroom units available with dens. Prices start at $181,500.

It’s not just the building and the amenities that have attracted all the buyers. The location at Sheppard Avenue East and Warden Avenue has a number of local conveniences and services that every condo dweller needs. There are banks, restaurants, parks, and shops all within walking distance.

“While the community offers so much, our proximity to Highway 401, 404 and the DVP makes getting downtown, or out of town, fast and convenient,” says Pong. “Our community is also well-served by the TTC and nearby to GO Transit for those without a car or may prefer public transit.”
