How to use Greenery - Pantone’s 2017 Colour of the Year

What’s driving your design decisions? Pantone recently announced its 2017 Colour of the Year, “Greenery.” Pantone’s executive director Leatrice Eiseman says that Greenery provides “us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment...it symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

Think of the colour green as another neutral to be incorporated into design. Green can bring in a feeling of nature and calmness.

Looking for ways to add Greenery into your space? Here are seven ways to incorporate Pantone’s Colour of the Year into your home:

1) Wallpaper

This soft green feathery wall treatment will work with almost any style. Add gold accents as pictured to dress it up or try black for a more casual look. I love the simply stated presence, and yet it is still such a statement!

2) Art

Greenery will be appearing on walls in art as well in 2017. Choose greenery in art and uplift your space.

3) Furniture

I give these fashionable dining chairs the green light. They provide a dash of drama with the brocade type fabric. Choose new or reupholster existing dining chairs in green and combine with wood, white, black or metals for a welcoming look. Sitting in green will help you feel calm and relaxed.

4) Table setting

A simple and effective way to update your room is to use accents of green for your table settings. White dishes can be invigorated by uniting Greenery in glasses, napkins and floral arrangements on the dining table.

5) Lighting

Kartel combines high style and simplicity with this light fixture. Get a green glow in your space by adding a pop of colour in a hanging pendant.

6) Paint

Paint a feature wall in a bright green or go bold in a dining room, powder room or bedroom. There is a good chance that this feel good colour will renew your energy. Paint is an easy way to change up your space and is a great tool in providing a whole new feeling in a room.

7) Accessories

These green velvet pillows are the perfect accent to white linen bedding. They are balanced with a hint of green leaves in a white container. This fresh and restful feeling completes the classic, neutral room setting. Accessorizing with Greenery is an effortless way to invest in this year’s newest hue, without a big commitment.

Trend savvy designers will be looking at bringing Greenery inside this year on walls and furniture, and in art and accessories. If you would like to create a calm, stress free room and increase your creativity, then consider adding green to your space. Will you give Pantone’s 2017 Colour of the Year the green light in your next decorating project?
