May: First-Time Homebuyers Month

By Lucas on May 01, 2014

Now that it’s May, we’re well into spring, the weather is getting warmer (kind of), and you may be thinking about moving. But, before you move, you have to buy, and if you’re currently renting, odds are you’re a first-time homebuyer.

As exciting as buying a new home is, it can be scary for someone who hasn’t done it before. There are legal obstacles to navigate, intimidating bankers to face, and smooth talking real estate agents to deal with. Then there’s the wide selection of homes from which to choose! Should you buy new or resale? What are the first steps you need to take in order to buy your first home? What does “amortization” mean?

If these are questions flying through your head and keeping you up at night, then you’re going to want to stay tuned to the Newinhomes.com blog for the entire month of May. We’ll be talking to first-time homebuyers about their experiences purchasing a home, and defining some confusing terms for you.

At the beginning of 2014, veteran industry consultant Barry Lyon called this year the “year of incentives.” Lyon believes that developers and homebuilders will be targeting the first-time homebuyer market and end-users with attractive incentives that just can’t be passed up. So far, he’s been right; there are many cashback opportunities being offered, as well as innovative down payment plans. We will be highlighting a few of these options and incentives throughout May.
