A Minute with Lou Grossi

By Lucas on Apr 01, 2013

Taking the ball and reaching goals is a lifelong passion for sports enthusiast Lou Grossi, Broker Manager of Intercity Realty Inc. Brokerage. When it came time to make his career choice, Lou steered away from the prospect of playing varsity football to focus on learning the family real estate business. His team building skills were easily transferred from the sports field to the real estate arena. Intercity Realty was founded by Lou’s dad, Vittorio Grossi, a respected 45-year member of the Toronto Real Estate Board.

Following in his father’s footsteps and with his expert advice, Lou has grown the family business into a full-featured real estate firm, with a portfolio that now includes re-sale residential, new home and condominium markets, commercial real estate, and land transactions. Through the years, Intercity has developed a very strong sales and marketing department which was a natural progression to serving some of the top builders and developers across the GTA. The Intercity team encompasses upwards of 150 sales representatives and a complement of skilled support staff.

Lou has combined his love of sports and real estate with a number of outreach programs and charitable activities geared to helping children excel in team sports from sponsoring hockey leagues, soccer leagues, and creating great community events such as the Intercity Community Family Fun Skate to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

NewInHomes (NIH): In sports terms, what is your underlying philosophy behind Intercity Realty team building?

Lou Grossi (LG): I liken my real estate strategy to football in a sense, where the quarterback is the most integral player, but without the finesse of the running back or the wide receiver to hand off to or the strength of the lineman to protect him, he is not effective.  In real estate, I count on the superior communication skills and full support of my team in order to serve our clients well and continue building a winning team.

NIH: How do you explain the extraordinary success Intercity Realty has in closing real estate deals?

LG: Our extensive research and knowledge of our product offering is where our expertise in marketing comes into play.  We understand our product and our competition. Our sales representatives and staff act as each other’s coaches to inspire and motivate one another. We are a positive and proactive team that works hard to ensure our customers are well served and come first.

NIH: What characteristics have endeared Intercity Realty to home purchasers, builders, and leading developers?

LG: Excellent work ethics, a positive attitude, expertise, trust, energy, and commitment have helped us reach our goals of building wonderful communities by partnering with reputable developers and new-home purchasers. What especially sets us apart is our experience in marketing and selling master-planned communities and new condominium developments.

NIH: Is there a key player on your team?

LG: Each person on our staff is a key player. However, in sales leadership, marketing, management and coaching, it’s got to be Alda Neves Dubé. She is the Director of Sales and Marketing. Alda heads Intercity’s entire team to ensure all clients are receiving the highest level of service from builder to prospective purchaser. Whenever anyone on our sales team reaches a goal, Alda’s coaching and insight has supported the successful transaction.

NIH: Intercity Realty is known in the industry as a wonderful place to work. Tell us about that.

LG: We have been very successful in maintaining good employee relations, primarily due to our outstanding communication. Time is made for everyone and every inquiry. We believe in respecting the individual and promoting the growth and success for all of our employees and sales representatives. We believe this is what keeps our business successful and our roster of sales representatives and staff growing!

We would like to thank Lou Grossi for taking the time to chat with us. We look forward to the many touchdowns he and his team will make in the near future!
