The winners of the 2015 OHBA Awards of Distinction

The winners of the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) 2015 Awards of Distinction were just announced, with Empire Communities taking top honours, winning the 2015 Ontario Home Builder of the Year Award.

Empire received the award due to their commitment to building ENERGY STAR homes, their outstanding customer service, as well as their corporate responsibility initiatives. The Empire team has lent their support both with funds and volunteer time to a number of programs and initiatives, including Habitat for Humanity, a $250,000 sponsorship to Brantford’s Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, $33,000 to David Hornell Jr. School for an outdoor classroom, and $40,000 to the Brantford Home Builders’ Association for their annual luncheon.

Other Prestige Awards winners include Project of the Year for the low-rise category, which was won by Aspen Ridge Homes’ Upper West Side in Thornhill. The mid-rise/high-rise Project of the Year Award went to Fusion Homes’ master-planned Guelph community, The Metalworks. And People’s Choice Award went to Marz Homes for South Coast Village in Crystal Beach.
