Our Trip to the Lash Design Centre

By Lucas on Sep 23, 2013

Recently, we had the opportunity to pay a visit to the Lash Design Centre in North York. We met with Lash Group’s Sales and Marketing Manager Heather Hamilton, who served as our tour guide and explained the process of designing a Lash unit.

The Lash Design Centre

Hamilton explained that the purchasers’ first step after purchasing a unit is to visit Paris Kitchens. At Paris Kitchens, there are design specialists that help you select everything for your new kitchen, from countertops, to faucets, to cabinetry. Paris Kitchens has all of Lash Group’s units on file and is able to provide great assistance to purchasers.

Hamilton said that the kitchen has become one of the most important rooms in a home, so purchasers tend to make their other design decisions based off their selections made at Paris Kitchens. Some people visit the design centre and only take an hour to select their features and finishes, and some take multiple visits - it all depends on the person and size of the unit.

When it comes to upgrades, Hamilton said that the first place people turn to is flooring. Lots of people like to upgrade the flooring to wider planks, and some even spend a little more to replace carpeted areas with hardwood. Another area purchasers turn to is the kitchen cabinetry. Lash has a pretty extensive selection of cabinetry on display, and there’s even more upgrades available at Paris Kitchens.

Speaking of cabinetry, Hamilton pointed out that many people are moving away from the traditional recessed panel doors and shaker designs (cabinetry doors with a raised frame), and selecting slab designs. Choosing a slab design for your kitchen cabinetry is a more minimalistic approach. The doors are completely flat, which draws more attention to the hardware you select, as well as the stain or pattern on the door.

Having plank laminate floors instead of hardwood is another common design decision that Hamilton mentioned. The technology behind plank laminate flooring has come such a long way in recent years that it is becoming the preferred flooring option. It’s detailed and textured now, it doesn’t scratch as easy as hardwood, and it’s also more affordable.

Lash Group developments

Keep your eye out for Lash’s three current condo developments: ME Living Condos at Markham Road and Ellesmere Road, which is currently in the preconstruction phase, Cloud9 Condos, which broke ground recently, and The Rushton Residences, which is currently under construction.

Who knows, maybe you’ll be visiting the Lash Design Centre for yourself soon!
